MATERIALS
Yarn :  Depends on your choice, I used DK weight yarn (140m/50gr) with colors: black, grey, cream. Small amount of red, white, green, yellow
Hook : Size 2.5 mm
Two 5mm safety eyes, one small button
Stuffing (polyfill, cotton wool, etc.), needle for sewing, scissors, pins
Pink blush for the cheeks

ABBREVIATIONS – US TERMS
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
inc – single crochet increase
dec – single crochet decrease
hdc – half double crochet
st– stitch/ stitches
sl st – slip stitch
rnd/ rnds – round/ rounds

When you need to decrease: make Invisible Decrease crochet stitches to have a better result.
The size of the penguin will vary, depending on the yarn used. If you use the same materials as me, the finished size is 10 cm (without hat).

LET’S START!

HEAD AND BODY (start in black yarn)

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a magic ring [6]

Rnd 2: inc in each st around [12]

Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [18]

Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [24]

Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [30]

Rnd 6: sc in next 2 st, inc in next st, (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) repeat 5 times, sc in next 2 st [36]

Rnd 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [42]

Rnd 8: sc in each st around [42]

Rnd 9: sc in next 16 st; cream yarn: sc in next 3 st; black yarn: sc in next 4 st; cream yarn: sc in next 3 st; black yarn sc in next 16 st [42]

Rnd 10: sc in next 15 st; cream yarn: sc in next 5 st; black yarn: sc in next 2 st; cream yarn: sc in next 5 st; black yarn sc in next 15 st [42]

Rnds 11-14 (4 rnds): : sc in next 14 st; cream yarn: sc in next 14 st; black yarn: sc in next 14 st [42]

At the end of rnd 14, change to grey yarn.

Insert the eyes between rnds 11 & 12, 4 st apart.

Start stuffing the head firmly, adding more as you go.

Rnd 15: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [48]

Rnds 16-20 (5 rnds): sc in each st around [48]

Rnd 21: (sc in next 7 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [54]

Rnds 22-23 (2 rnds): sc in each st around [54]

Rnd 24: (sc in next 7 st, dec) repeat 6 times [48]

Rnds 25: sc in each st around [48]

Rnd 26: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 8 times [40]

Rnd 27: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 8 times [32]

Rnd 28: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 8 times [24]

Rnd 29: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 8 times [16]

Rnd 30: dec 8 times [8]

Fasten off and close the remaining st.

Using yellow yarn, embroider the beck over 2 st of rnd 12, between 2 eyes.

WING (make 2, grey yarn)

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a magic ring [6]

Rnd 2: (inc in next st, sc in next 2 st) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 3: (sc in next st, inc in next st) repeat 4 times [12]

Rnd 4: sc in each st around [12]

Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 3 times [9]

Flatten the opening of the wing and sc in next 4 st through both layers to close the opening. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the wings on either side of body at rnd 15.

FOOT (make 2, black yarn)

Rnd 1: sc 6 into a magic ring [6]

Rnd 2: (inc in next st, sc in next 2 st) repeat 2 times [8]

Rnd 3: sc in each st around [8]

Flatten the opening of the foot and sc in next 4 st through both layers to close the opening. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the feet at rnd 7 (count from the last round) of the body, 6 st apart.

HAT (start in red yarn)

Rnd 1: Ch 8 (leave a long tail at the beginning and close the top of  hat later), hdc in the 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next 5 ch, join the first hdc with a sl st [6]

Rnd 2: ch 2, (hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st) repeat 2 times, join with a sl st [8]

Rnd 3: ch 2, (hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) repeat 4 times, join with a sl st [12]

Rnd 4: ch 2, (hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st) repeat 4 times, join with a sl st [16]

At the end of rnd 4, change to white yarn.

Rnd 5: ch 1, sc in each st around, join with a sl st [16]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Make a tiny pompom in white and sew on the top of hat.

SCARF (green yarn)

Ch 71, inc in the second ch from hook, sc in next 68 ch, 3 sc in the last ch; continue on the other side of the ch, sc in next 69 ch; join with a sl st. Fasten off, weaving in the end.

Using the thread, sew the small button on the scarf.

Put the scarf around neck.

Sew the hat on the head of penguin.

Using the makeup blush, apply color for cheeks.

Make a loop on the top of head to hang it as a bauble.
